Baja California

Overview

Baja California is Mexico's northwesternmost state, bordered by the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of California, and the United States. Tijuana and Mexicali are its main cities, both lying near the US border and driving the state's economy. The region is mostly dry, with an average temperature of 19.8°C and large areas of desert and mountain terrain. Note: Puebla, Hermosillo, and Durango are not in Baja California. Puebla and Durango are states in central and northern Mexico, and Hermosillo is in Sonora.
